Richard T Nelson Awards for Sculpture: Finalists Announced for Prestigious $20,000 Awards
60 New Zealand sculptors have been selected as finalists for the inaugural Richard T Nelson Awards for Sculpture.
84 sculptures will be exhibited as part of the NZ Art Show 2021, where they will be vying for a top prize of $15,000 and five highly commended prizes of $1,000. The five winners will be announced on June 3rd at the show’s VIP preview.

ARTIST PROFILE: Mandy Rodger
Mandy Rodger is an abstract painter, from Auckland. Her practice explores totality and the idea that nothing stands by itself. Each painting is an improvisation, a response to the forms and marks on the canvas. They are a recognition that while we can look back, we can only move forward. As the making of a painting progresses, each gestural mark and colour is invariably altered by its intrinsic relationship to those that come both before and after. There is a sense of impermanence and change.
