Andy Wilson

My work is mostly oil and/or acrylic on canvas.

I love the way light manifests itself through the mediums of dust, rain, mist and reflection. All these elements come together in the urban landscapes that comprise a large portion of my paintings. I find the unnoticed beauty and subtle narrative in these scenes a constant source of inspiration. Most of us are surrounded by such scenes on a daily basis, but rarely have the time to stop and acknowledge them. Most of my urban works are based around Wellington, although I have fulfilled commissions set in other locations.

I like to capture passion and spectacle. People dancing or congregating together. People sharing a joyous, exciting or meaningful event.

We have recently moved to Martinborough in the Wairarapa, and I know the huge dramatic skies will be providing plenty of passion and spectacle inspiration.
