Donna Chisholm

Daily interactions with people, places and things inform the visual art process of Donna Chisholm. A vehicle of mixed-media processes allows Chisholm to capture the complexities and layers of people’s perceptions, judgements and opinions. These casual interactions intersect with their routine, helping to navigate the immediate world around them.

Chisholm is mostly a self taught artist, but did creatively explore some finer points of art etiquette at Aoraki Polytechnic. It was here their artistic voice began to capture the collision of their life experiences. Especially the influences of daily news, social media, relationships, academic reading and philosophical conversations which fused in an inconsistent cacophony. Yet, each of these parts allowed Chisholm to reflect and record their understanding in small visual vignettes which are offered as an invitation to see further, think deeper and live better.
