-Esther Dexter was born in London and moved to New Zealand in 1999. For years she painted full-time in her studio, high on a windswept hill near Wanaka. The South island colours and energy feature a lot in her works.
Coming from an artistic family Esther has experimented with various art mediums for most of her life. Esther’s work is often dreamlike and melodramatic, exploring how we remember places and our emotional links to them. She encapsulates the energy in our surroundings, the forces of nature, both seen and unseen . A strong eye for design and contemporary colours make her landscapes and abstracts very recognizable.
