Holly Thomas is an abstract painter based in Turangi-nui-a-Kiwa (Gisborne).
Her paintings are bold expressions of colour and line and are brave, dynamic and contemporary.
Holly draws her inspiration from thoughts and reflections on life experiences. Recently she has been referencing drawings and designs she created in her teenage years, reliving these through new mixed media paintings featuring neon, pastel, spray paint and elements of drawing worked into layers of paint.
Holly's main artistic focus is painting and liquid medium, but she also works in drawing, photography and mixed media collage.
Holly studied painting and fine art through Nelson Polytech, UCOL, and more recently with The Learning Connexion where she majored in painting and drawing under the tuition of contemporary painters Peter Adsett and Robert Franken. She has been a regular exhibitor both locally and at the NZ Art Show and her work is sold throughout New Zealand.
