Kat Whittle

Style: Abstract painting
Mediums: Acrylic, Oil, Oil stick.
Qualifications: Level 6 Art and Creativity The Learning Connexion. 2019
Location: Wellington

Artist methods:
These art works are created with acrylic paints, oil paints and oil sticks. Paint is applied through a range of techniques using brushes, pallet knives, sgraffito, and finger painting.
Some works are painted on canvas, others on used denim. The process for creating with used denim involves sewing pieces of used denim together, stretching it over a frame like is done with canvas, preparing the surface and painting on it as would be done with canvas. The seams are left visible to form part of the art works composition and texture.

Kat draws on everyday life experiences and uses her passion for colour and mark making to express mood, energy and emotion. She sees being an artist as a way of life that encourages her to slow down and connect with the world around her, enriching life's experiences.

Watch this space for more art works to be loaded over coming weeks.

When purchasing any of the below art works you are welcome to inquire regarding having a frame custom built. Kat builds her own wooden floating frames. For more details on this process please visit her website:
