Ironically all my work is about escaping and finding freedom. The core of who we are is to ultimately find freedom within ourselves. Freedom from our everyday life, our routine, our trappings, our boundaries, our ties and our limitations. I aim to release the viewer’s imagination to create a story of what’s to come, to see pathways of infinite potential, gateways to the unknown, flights of future mystery to the unknown.
Our imaginations of unlimited possibilities expanded beyond the visual to see fantasies freed.
I have a love of experimenting and discovering the many approaches of ink on paper. The unpredictability never ceases to surprise, amaze and challenge me. I love the vibrancy, fluidity, texture and joy of the imperfect. I use ink with watercolour, gouache, acrylics, collage and other media. My acrylics on board with resin are another channel of complete fun. Being a passionate gardener art grew out of my love for our plant life, flowers, trees, sustaining nature and the environment. Plants are the soul of the planet.
I completed my BVAD in 2011 and had my first solo exhibition during that year. I am a Molly Morpeth Finalist and have exhibited widely throughout the North Island. I have work in private collections in NZ and Australia. I work part time at Humanity Books and Fine Art in Hastings.
“Between stimulus and response, there is a space. In that space is our power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and our freedom.”
