Info About Prints

Original prints, reproduction prints, fine art digital prints, original photography and photographic prints

This information is to clear up any confusion, for artists and buyers too, over the difference between original prints, reproduction prints, digital prints and photographic prints

For all artists who have exhibited with the NZ Art Show before, please note that this information is an update to our previous guidelines regarding prints.

In a nutshell

  • The number of prints permitted has increased from 15 to a limited edition of 30
  • All prints are to be clearly labelled with the printing method used and the edition number

What do we mean by edition?

  • This is when a number of copies of the same artwork has been reproduced. The edition is the specific number of copies that has been created by the artist before the first sale.
  • With a limited edition, the number of works available will not change once the artist starts selling them
  • Numbering the works: if you created 15 copies then each work is an edition of 15. The first work would be numbered 1/15, the second would be numbered 2 / 15 and so forth up to 15/15

To follow, we outline the differences between the types of prints
