Every sunrise feels like a fresh canvas

Meet Hollie O’Neill, an Auckland-based artist whose work captures the magic of light itself. Using pigment and epoxy polymer on mirrored glass and aluminium, she creates bold, luminous paintings that shimmer and shift with every angle — a dance of colour and reflection that celebrates nature’s radiant spirit.
Hollie’s art is grounded in movement and mindfulness — shaped by her 27-year journey in yoga and Jin Shin Jyutsu. Her circular canvases echo wholeness and flow, embodying the energy she finds in daily sunrise walks along the coast.
Her practice spans from abstract minimalism in her Solar Seduction and Solar Verticals series to her playful NZ Animal Collection, where familiar creatures become icons of joy and nostalgia.
Recognised across the country — including the Parkin Drawing Prize, NZ Painting & Printmaking Award, and Best in Colour Award (Art in the Park 2024) — Hollie continues to push boundaries, blending science, spirit, and sensation through her art.
She’ll bring her vibrant new works to NZ Art Show 2026, inviting visitors into her world of light, colour, and connection.
