Corporate Sector Throws Its Support behind the Visual Arts
The business community is proving that art is for everyone.
Sponsors from all sides of the business spectrum are aligning themselves with New Zealand’s most popular art show. Corporate businesses are enthusiastic about the opportunity to support emerging artists while being involved in an event which is a tonne of fun and which their clients love.
This year 15 corporate sponsors are committed to supporting the 2018 NZ Art Show. They will be treated to a visual feast of cool and contemporary New Zealand art while playing an integral role in the sustainability of the event. Now in its fifteenth year, the NZ Art Show is the largest curated art sale in New Zealand showcasing original artworks from around 200 artists.
The show runs for four days over Queen’s Birthday Weekend, kicking off with a Gala opening on Thursday 31 May. The doors open to the public on Friday 1 June at the TSB Arena on Wellington’s waterfront.
The show’s Executive Director, Carla Russell has been with the show since its inception in 2004 and says that endorsement from the corporate sector is crucial to the show’s success.
‘We are proud to say that the majority of our funding comes from the business community: they are a major driving force behind the show’s success and are our biggest advocates,’ says Russell. ‘The Opening Gala evening draws a crowd over 1,200 people and has been a sold out event for ten consecutive years: our sponsors are definitely a big part of making this evening the major social event that it has become.
‘In addition to all the fun, sponsors are helping maintain a thriving creative arts community. Fifteen years ago emerging artists struggled to find a platform due to lack of venues but now, with the help of sponsors, there is an easy and accessible space where artists can exhibit their work to thousands.‘

The NZ Art Show is their major sponsorship platform in Wellington with the Gala evening being a drawcard to 400 of their staff and clients.
