NZ Art Show Heading for 16 Years at the Top

The 2019 NZ Art Show will take place from May 31 to June 3, at Wellington’s TSB Bank Arena. Art lovers will be spoilt for choice as 100s of NZ artists exhibit 1,000s of artworks over an arty Queen’s Birthday weekend.

The NZ Art Show has developed into a sophisticated event that attracts more than 10,000 visitors. Artist applications open soon and the organisers are gearing up for another busy application period. Heading into its 16th year the NZ Art Show has proven that it offers sales and promotional opportunities for NZ’s emerging talent, unrivalLed at any other show.

The NZ Art Show team are confident that the 2019 event will repeat its successes from previous shows and stand out from the crowd.
The show’s Executive Director, Carla Russell, says the main focus will be in ensuring that the show remains at the top of its game.
“The 2018 show was our most successful to date,” says Russell. “It generated more than $1.2 million in art sales, a clear indication that New Zealand art is still in favour with art buyers.”
Russell is quick to point out that whilst the show enjoys consistently positive results every year, it’s important not to rest on its laurels.
“Our challenge is to produce a show that gives art buyers something new and fresh and an event that surprises. That is what we will be looking for when we put the call out for artists. We are committed to delivering a quality event that proves art is for everyone”

The 2019 show will showcase a broad range of artistic styles and media to appeal to all tastes, and a key feature will be the finalists for the awards, the RT Nelson Emerging Artist Award and the People’s Choice Award sponsored by Brendan Foot Supersite.

Artist applications and early bird ticket sales open on November 1.
