NZ Art Show to Unveil It’s Most Dazzling Show Yet

As the the countdown begins, the award-winning NZ Art Show is preparing to welcome thousands of art lovers to its highly anticipated 21st annual showcase this week, promising a multi-sensory event.

With an array of new features and a vibrant lineup of artists, this year’s event is set to elevate the art show experience to unprecedented heights.

“This year’s NZ Art Show is poised to be an extraordinary celebration of creativity, diversity, and innovation,” enthused Carla Russell, Executive Director of the NZ Art Show. “From the moment attendees step foot into the exhibition space, they will be immersed in a world of vibrant colours, textures, and  forms, igniting the senses.”

More than 250 artists, including over 100 who will onsite, will present artworks exclusively crafted for this milestone event: the diversity of media and styles reflects the rich tapestry of New Zealand’s artistic landscape.

This will be Auckland artist Ana Teofilo’s first time exhibiting in the NZ Art Show

The adjoining Shed 6 will showcase a curated selection of emerging artists and art groups, adding an exciting new dimension to the event. The art groups are Toi Māori Aotearoa, DYED Studios, Art Start, and the Whiti o Rehua School of Art (Massey University), offering a glimpse into the depth and breadth of artistic talent across the country.

In the Main Arena, internationally acclaimed designer Lucy Tupu and iconic New Zealand artist Max Gimblett will showcase some of their stunning rug design collaborations, adding a touch of elegance and sophistication to the exhibition.

$30,000 in art awards will be presented across three categories: the R.T Nelson Awards for Sculpture, The People’s Choice Art Award and the inaugural Hyundai Emerging Artist Awards.
The show kicks off with a capacity filled VIP Preview on Thursday, May 30, followed by the highly anticipated Gala Evening, featuring live music from the Boomshack band, fine wine from Luna Estate Winery, and delectable canapés from Nosh Catering, promising an unforgettable night of celebration and entertainment.

Live music and DJs, curated by internationally acclaimed musician Barnaby Weir and RadioActive.FM will feature throughout the day on Friday and Saturday, adding a harmonious and ambient accompaniment to the art.

And in an eco-awareness move, re-usable art bags are being introduced for wrapping sold artworks, largely replacing the plastic associated with packaging art. 

The NZ Art Show invites art lovers of all ages to explore, discover, and be inspired, emphasizing that the 21st NZ Art Show is poised to be a celebration of creativity, community, and connection.”

Show days run from Friday May 31st to Sunday June 2nd. Door sales will be available and children 12 years and under receive free entry, making it a perfect family-friendly outing.
