Sharon and Brian Yee: Making Art Things Happen

As the NZ Art Show marks its 20th anniversary, we’re thrilled to continue our series spotlighting the incredible individuals who have helped shape this beloved event. Through a collection of stories, we’re honored to showcase some of the amazing people who have made the NZ Art Show what it is today. This month, we’re proud to introduce Sharon and Brian Yee from MSH Consulting, who have been staunch supporters of the NZ Art Show since 2013. Delve into their story and explore some of the artwork they have collected over the years.

Sharon and Brian are not only partners in life, but also in business. Childhood sweethearts, they have been married for 35 years and have four children. Together, Sharon and Brian make a solid team, both personally and professionally.

Brian is the founding Director of MSH Consulting, and Sharon is also an owner of MSH (Making Strategy Happen). In her role, Sharon oversees the efficient functioning of the office and ensures that all clients have a smooth and positive experience.

With over 25 years of experience in providing strategic consulting advice to New Zealand companies, Brian has established himself as an expert in his field. Before founding MSH in 1999, Brian held senior positions at international consultancies in Wellington and London. He also joined the Treasury as the Chief Analyst in 1996.

At MSH, we work with clients who are driven to achieve greatness, helping them to achieve their strategic vision by bridging the gap between organisation goals and operational reality. As we have been involved in the NZ Art Show, we have watched it grow from strength to strength. We take great pride in being a part of this successful event and consider it a great show.

As dedicated supporters of the NZ Art Show, Sharon and Brian have been sponsoring and purchasing art from the show for over a decade.

‘We take great pleasure in supporting the NZ Art Show and have been proud sponsors and avid art buyers for the past ten years. We have acquired multiple pieces from various talented artists and treasure each one of them.

Brian and Sharon’s unwavering support for their four children’s basketball pursuits led Brian to become involved in coaching at high school level. This eventually led to his appointment as a Director on the Basketball New Zealand Board of Directors, and in 2020, he was appointed as the Chair of the Board.

As a family, they are all passionate about basketball and have participated as players, coaches, and administrators. Collectively, they formed a successful coaching team for the Hutt Valley High School senior girls, winning two national secondary schools championships and a handful of Wellington Premierships over a thirteen year-stint.

‘Our family’s love for basketball runs deep, and we are proud to be involved in various roles within the sport. It brings us great joy to see our children pursue their passions, and we are committed to supporting them in any way we can and giving back to the next generation in the sport we love.

Brian and Sharon Yee’s dedication to supporting New Zealand art led them to establish a partnership with the NZ Art Show. Their journey began in 2013 when they became Corporate Partners through their company, MSH Consulting. They quickly recognized the significance of the show to the art community and their clients, and in 2018, they became Silver Sponsors. Each year, they host a number of guests at the NZ Art Show Gala.

‘We are always impressed by the professionalism of Carla and her team in managing the event. They instill a sense of confidence that our guests will undoubtedly have a remarkable and unforgettable experience. Our clients look forward to attending the art show every year.

‘One of our favourite pieces would have to be the Green Man by Lillibet as it personifies the MSH brand of logical thinking. The painting is uncanny in that the eyes follow you as you move around the room.’

We’re very proud to sponsor the NZ Art Show, as we strongly believe in championing the talent of our local NZ artists. By supporting these artists, we hope to help cultivate an environment that nurtures their growth and prosperity, ultimately contributing to the flourishing of our artistic community.’

Message from Carla Russell,

The support of our sponsors is critical to the success of the NZ Art Show, and we are grateful to be partnered with exceptional organizations like MSH. Their generous assistance enables us to produce a world-class event that all New Zealanders can take pride in.

Our sponsors not only support the arts, but they also benefit from significant rewards. One of the most notable benefits is the opportunity to express gratitude to their clients by hosting them at our highly anticipated and popular Gala Evening.
